Volunteer Spotlight: Barrie Stern

Our partnership with Lockheed Martin has brought many Strong, Smart, Bold volunteers to Girls Incorporated of Greater Atlanta, and we are thankful that many go above and beyond! Barrie Stern was looking for a way to get involved in the community and decided to do a little research on Girls Inc., after hearing about the organization through Lockheed’s employee resource group. She loved the mission and values that Girls Inc. represents and knew that this was an organization that she wanted to be involved with.

Born in South Florida, Barrie is a graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Industrial and Systems engineering, and the University of Southern California with a master’s degree in Engineering Management. Barrie worked at Lockheed Martin since 2010, first in Fort Worth, Texas and later in Atlanta. She loves to play tennis and basketball, and enjoys a good book. She also loves her Florida Gators! Barrie has a passion for traveling and has visited 26 countries, with the intention to travel the world seeing every single one.

Barrie loves working with the girls and getting to see their different personalities. They make the day interesting for her and keep her wanting to come back to see what they will show her next. It is committed volunteers like Barrie that want to make an impact in their community and believe in our mission that are vital to helping our girls become Strong, Smart and Bold.
